Iris Fry obtained her B.Sc. in Chemistry and M.Sc. in Biochemistry from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, an M.A. in philosophy and a Ph.D. in the history and philosophy of science from Tel Aviv University. She taught for many years at the Cohn Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science and Ideas at Tel Aviv University and at the Department of Humanities and Arts, Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. She is retired as of 2014. Her book, The Origin of Life: Mystery or Scientific Problem? (1997) came out in Israel and The Emergence of Life on Earth: A Historical and Scientific Overview (2000) was published by Rutgers University Press. She has published articles on the science, history, and philosophy of the origin-of-life problem and on the interaction between science and religion.
